BEHIND THE SCENES: SIMPLICITY AND COMPLEXITY IN ARCHITECTURE, 3XN ARCHITECTS, COPENHAGEN
Running from 30 April to 9 June 2016, this exhibition led by 3XN creative director and founding principal Kim Herforth Nielsen, shares 'behind the scenes' insights into the making of architecture. It presents some of the lesser-known stories, processes and people lying behind the images of the realised buildings, together with some current projects and the work of GXN, the office's internal innovation unit on new materials and green technologies. The exhibition, and Nielsen's presentation, uses models, drawings, photos and other elements to explore multiple themes, including the evolution of building forms, façades, shaping space, physical connection, architectural collaboration and innovative materials. URBAN INCUBATORS FOR BERLIN. PRATT INSTITUTE DESIGN STUDIO
As part of a semester-long studio, Pratt Institute returns to ANCB from 17 May to 30 June 2016 for its sixth design studio on Berlin. This studio challenges students to demonstrate the understanding and ability to design and conceptualise an architectural/urban project in Berlin with the emphasis on inserting small size urban incubators that contain programmes for film, media spectacles, small neighbourhood festivals and public viewing. The aim is to advance the students’ ability to experiment, to create their own conceptual approaches and to develop a novel and original project that reflects on their freedom within an engaged discursive environment.
