Programmes for the Urban Block

Following the 10 critical issues facing cities identified by ANCB the 'Studio XY' is dealing with the transformation capabilities of grown urban structure. How to modify quarters to ‘get ready' for the needs of a modern urban life?

What does the city of future have to contribute? How far is urban substance suited for future demands on social space, on infrastructure - on modern technologies and ecological balance? Which potentials are hidden in the (by and with us) grown city? Considered are two selected quarters of Berlin. Therefor we are going to break down the formulated points. What might Migration, Mobility, Security, Orientation, Welfare, Cultural Heritage, Resource Consumption, Water, The Sensory Environment, The Commons actually mean for an urban design project and its implementation?

In the studio, scenarios / operating principles will be developed - architectural building blocks implanted into the quarter, which are able to transform them.
